Everyone knows Joakim Noah has one of the worst contracts in the NBA right now. So in order for the Knicks to move Joakim Noah they would have to either take on a player whose team feels is worse (either through fit or production) than Noah while matching salaries or the Knicks would have to give up something of value to entice a team to take on Noah's salary either draft pick(s) or young player(s) with potential. Joakim Noah is signed until the 2019 2020 season when he is getting 19,295,000. Another notable fact is no Knick is signed after that season except for Tim Hardaway Jr will be making 18 million and Frank Ntilikina who be making 6 million. Thats 75million in cap space.
Let's take a look at some of the worst NBA contracts out there right now and see how they stack up with Joakim Noah
At first glance the first name that pops out to me is Luol Deng of the Los Angeles Lakers he also has two years left on his contract at 18 million next year and 18,800,000 final year in 19/2020 as well.
He's also been seldom-used and he's very upset about his role on the Lakers. The thing is he fits the position of Need For Us defensive small forward.
Joakim Noah also fits the position of need for the Lakers as I see only 1 true Center on their team in Brook Lopez who is a free agent after the season.
Brook Lopez is Not a defensive specialist at all. To me this is a easy no-brainer helps both teams get rid of disgruntled employees and worst case scenario neither team loses if the respective players don't produce. I can also see Joakim fitting well with the Lakers as lonzoBall is a point guard who actually makes it easier on his teammates so I could definitely see
that working throw in a 2nd rounder or swap. And get it done.
The next player i would like to explore a trade scenario with is Chandler Parsons of the Memphis Grizzlies. Chandler Parsons is old 24 million in 2018-19 and 25 million in 2020. So we could offer Memphis a bit of cap relive in the fact that Chandler will make 7million more than Noah each of the next two years. Noah is healthy now who knows if/when Parsons will be healthy again but he may be worth the risk as his talent has never been a question. Thow in fellow Spaniard WHG to develop under Marc Gasol. Maybe Baker and/or a second rounder. Or even Lance Thomas works. This give us options on Kanter and KOQ a scoring threat of the bench in Parsons if he is ready to and can play. Win win for the knicks tho.
Last player is a also 25million man in Harrison Barnes of the Dallas Mavericks. Now we would most definitely have to send Dallas some Assets in order for this trade to go down we also would need to match salary so that's an additional 6 or 7 million on top of Noah's salary same rules would apply as with Parsons what's a lot more incentive so possibly a first-round pick somewhere down the line and one of our young guys.
Tell me what you guys think in tje comment section. Trade deadline is approaching fast.
They should have Noah stay home next season and trade his contract after the 18/19 season when it becomes easier to recoupe something, anything for Noah.
Wow Tony you put some thought on this situation. I wouldn't mind having Chandler Parsons but only if we aren't giving up any picks and can get ride if an additional contract like Ron Baker or Lance Thomas. The contacts wiuwo match up and would allow for playing time for Dameyon Dotson and Frank Nitty.
As for trading for Deng I don't see both team doing this deal because at the end if the day the contracts themselves are the problem to future fiscal relief. Please after a month Knicks fans would have the same complants about Deng as they do for Noah.
