In 1993, Dre released his second album The Chronic, an album whose music strongly echoed Dre's anger in the midst of his fiscal and legal battles. The songs on the record were almost entirely produced by Dre himself. With The Chronic, Dre's output of songs also increased to 56 on the single, and its creation process was more gradual, with only 10 songs written, and most other songs being produced during the recording. Its singles included "Let Me Ride" with Snoop Dogg, "Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang" featuring Snoop, "All I Need is a Girl" with his nephew & producer Nate Dogg, and "California Love" with Tupac Shakur, which brought attention from the media and both led up to and followed the album's "party anthemic" hit "Remember Me?" Sales of the album were the culmination of years of financial struggles as the Death Row label was short on funds. "California Love" would later become a mainstream hit also in 1989 for Lakeside, California-based R&B group Three Dog Night. The album climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and stayed for twenty weeks, tied for the longest stay by a rap solo artist on that chart. "California Love" later became a standard part of the American national anthem. This record also achieved the highest number of certified units for a single album in the US, reaching 20 million units. In 1994, Death Row released the compilation album Death Row: The Album... And Then There Was Death Row (often abbreviated as simply Death Row). The album, which featured newly commissioned songs by Wu-Tang Clan, was released to critical acclaim and certified double platinum on June 16, 1995. In 1999, Death Row Records cranked out Tha Saga Right back... for Snoop Doggy Dogg featuring Dr. Dre and a compilation of several unreleased songs recorded by Dre and Snoop Dogg almost a decade earlier. On May 1, 1999, Death Row Records was dropped from EMI. This left Dre unrepresented and associated with no label. Cleopatra Man followed on February 19, 2001. In 2003, Dre was sued by banks who held a secured interest in his assets, and forced to declare bankruptcy. On May 3, 2006, Dr. d2c66b5586
